Christy & Josh - An Awesome Backyard Wedding
To say I enjoyed Christy and Josh's wedding would be an understatement. They booked me for a backyard wedding in DeKalb, and from our very first phone consultations, it was clear that their primary goal was simply to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. Though I hadn’t met Christy and Josh in person until the wedding day (they found me on Zola), we clicked right away. While I was taking portraits, Josh and I discovered a fun connection—I had photographed his good friend Corey and Jamie’s wedding a few years back, and it turns out they grew up as next-door neighbors. That little detail added an extra sense of familiarity to the day.
The wedding itself was full of energy and joy. A brief interruption from the police (something that can happen with lively backyard weddings!) could have been a disruption, but it was quickly smoothed over and didn’t diminish the fun. In fact, it became one of those moments people will laugh about later. The party picked right back up, and Premier Entertainment, the DJ service, deserves a shoutout for keeping the dance floor alive all night long. Their ability to maintain the vibe and keep everyone moving was incredible—they really knew how to keep the celebration in full swing.
Christy and Josh’s wedding was the perfect mix of laid-back and high-energy, making it a blast to photograph. It felt less like work and more like being part of a close-knit celebration, which is always a huge win!
“Thomas was amazing! He was so organized and he had a flawless ability to change his plans based off of everything that’s thrown at you on your wedding day that you don’t expect. He just went along with it. He made everyone feel confident and comfortable. He was so personable as well and jumped right it. He even calmed me down when I was having an anxious moment myself. We couldn’t ask for a better person to do our photos! We are beyond happy and would recommend him to anyone!!!!”
