If you want a turn-key option then this includes nearly everything I offer. The second shooter is a great option for larger or more logistically complicated weddings, and I only work with professional photographers that I trust and who’s images are given to me for safe keeping and editing right along with my own. An album is the best way to experience your wedding day with a curated story that will last for generations.
This is my most popular collection as it includes wedding coverage and an engagement session. Engagement sessions are incredibly helpful to prepare for the wedding day. It’s a chance to unlearn how you’ve previously had your picture taken and get a full sense of what to expect from me and my approach so it’s not even a thought come wedding day.
Perfect for straight forward wedding days. When you only need photography for the wedding day and you want to keep things as simple as possible – this is the way to go!
Do you need something a bit more or less then you see above? Please contact me and let's discuss designing a custom collection to fit your unique needs. So, no matter the size of your wedding, how big or small or what budget is; please get in touch. I would genuinely love to hear from you.
Engagement sessions are a great way for you to get the photos you need for those upcoming save the date announcements. They are also incredibly helpful to prepare for the wedding day itself. It’s a chance to unlearn how you’ve previously had your picture taken and get a full sense of what to expect from me and my approach so it’s not even a thought come wedding day.
Though 8 hours of coverage is usually the perfect amount for most weddings… sometimes you need more. If you’re planning a particularly eventful day or just don’t want to think about it then this add-on has me there as long as you want.
Let me start by saying that I photograph most weddings by myself, however sometimes it just makes logistical sense to have a second photographer. I can’t be in two places at the same time and if you want photos of getting ready in two totally different locations, or you want lots of detail photos during cocktail hour while we’re out taking photos – a second photographer is the best way to go about it.
I started offering discounts for unplugged weddings since noticing a huge spike in tablets and phone cameras at nearly every wedding over the last few years. We can talk in more detail in person about it, but I’ve found it’s a win-win with your guests being more focused on the start of your marriage and me being able to photograph moments of people laughing and hugging instead of pointing at screens.
Do you want to relive that wedding day feeling? maybe your timeline didn’t allow for you to venture away from the venue, it rained on your wedding day or the other photographer you hired simply didn't get the portraits you wanted? No matter the reason I would love to shoot your post wedding portrait session and create some beautiful images that no other bride has.
You may have heard of these type of sessions called by other names such as “Trash The Dress” or “Rock The Frock”. No worries; while some brides choose to actually “trash the dress”, we don't have to damage or dirty the dress to get great images. These types of sessions are often shot on a beach, rural farm, stylish hotel suite or any number of other locations. There really are no limits to the locations we can shoot.
I also offer pre-wedding editorial bridal photo sessions too. Please let me know if these are something you are interested in doing and we can start brain storming on all the possibilities.
Pricing is based on the location and scope of the session.
I’m there to document genuine moments as they naturally happen. For the majority of the day, I stay very hands off, focusing 100% on the story. You won’t find me asking your friends to recreate moments, but you will find me ready to capture those moments before they even happen.
During portraits, it’s a little different. I give plenty of direction, working to bring creative ideas to make images that are unique as the people in them. Though I do direct during portraits my intentions are to capture candid moments to give you honest, natural photos.
In addition to choosing a photographer who's work deeply resonates with you, it's important that your photographer's personality blends in with your own in order to capture candid moments. I am fortunate to encounter a full spectrum of personalities, from reserved and quiet to wild and outgoing. The greatest compliment I can receive is hearing that my clients loved their photos but also enjoyed working with me. It's important for clients to not only have confidence in my photography, but also enjoy the experience. Below are some of the compliments I have received from wedding clients.
"We can’t say enough good things... absolutely wonderful! To start, Thomas did our engagement photos and most recently our wedding photos... My fiancé and I have spent the last few days giddy after getting our wedding photos from Thomas. They are the most beautiful wedding photos that we have ever seen! Thomas did a wonderful job being everywhere at the right time to capture all of those special moments. He is such an easy person to talk to and work with. As a bride, I was a bit overwhelmed at times about getting those “perfect pinterest photos"... Thomas told me to just relax and that he would capture all the right moments and to trust him on that. I did and my pictures are even better than any pinterest photo I’ve ever seen! I never felt posed and everything felt so natural and flowed so well. The way he does all of his work is just perfect. The whole process of receiving your photos after your big day is a breeze... Thank you so much Thomas!!! We couldn’t be happier!" - Jordan & Bradford
"Thank you for everything! It was such a pleasure working with you. Amazing photos and you were both incredibly professional and patient with us." - Charlene & Scott
"Picking Thomas was one of the best decisions of the wedding planning process. I would easily recommend Thomas Doggett to anyone getting married in Chicago land." - Beth & Mike
"Thank you so very much for capturing all the amazing moments of our wedding day. We could not have picked a better photographer than you. We are still in awe when we look at all the moments you captured!" - Ali & Tyler
"I absolutely love them! You are amazing! Thank you so much for everything!! I was going to text you last night just saying how much fun we had with you. But it was a little late so I will say it here how much we enjoy working with you. You are a very talented man and you couldn't make us happier with your work. We can't wait to share these with friends and family. I cried happy tears as I was looking through them. You have a intricate eye at capturing people's happiest moments. We are so lucky to have found you. We love your heart and spirit and it will be an honor to have you a part of our special day :) Thank you again for everything!" - Theresa & Tyler
"Tom did a wonderful job of photographing our wedding. He really captured all the special moments that we wanted to remember as well as all the fine details that were so carefully chosen for our day. From the loving glances my husband and I exchanged during our first dance right down to the matching place settings, Tom caught it all for us and he did so in such artistically composed pictures that you would expect to see them in a high end magazine spread." - Susan & Chris
"Thomas's passion for photography is a true gift. He captured every moment that we wanted and also added his own unique photography skills to create stunning pictures that we wouldn't have thought of. We are forever grateful that we chose Tom for our photographer. Thank you for the beautiful memories!" - Susie & Joe
“Oh my goodness !!!! These are freaking amazing!! ;) Thanks a million for your creative eye and kind words. You are a delight! Don and I really enjoyed having you work with us and will definitely refer our friends and family. Thanks a million” - Jen & Don
"We absolutely LOVE our pictures! Thomas listened to what we wanted and captured everything throughout the day" - Ally & Adam
“We are extremely pleased to have had Thomas take our engagement, wedding and trash the dress photos. He captured our wedding day so beautifully. Our pictures will be a lasting reminder of how special the day was. Thomas captured all the important moments in a way that was timeless and yet unexpected – so many wedding photos end up looking exactly the same and posed. He really got “us” (including our families and friends) at our best that day. Most importantly, we feel like anyone looking through our album can have a sense of what the wedding was like, as a whole, after looking at the photographs. He is truly talented and wonderful at what he does and it has been a pleasure working with him" – Britnie & Nick
“Darren and I loved our engagement and wedding photos. Thank you so much for working with us. We already referred you to a good friend of ours” – Darren & Melissa
Q: Do you have any limits on time for coverage on the wedding day?
Never any limit on photos taken and I offer a full wedding day option to go along with all wedding collections. I’m yours whenever you need me throughout the day.
Q: Do you shoot in film or in digital?
I use high quality Fuji X series digital cameras and equipment, ensuring premium quality images. If you want to know more about my camera choices we can cover that at our consultation (I love talking about cameras).
Q: Will we have an option to have black and white photos?
Yes, my photos are shot color but I tend to convert those “moment” shots into b&w as it removes the distraction of color and the viewer is left with the focus being on the subject’s expression.
Q: Can we meet to review your work, see albums and discuss collection?
Absolutely! I’ll work with you every step of the way to answer all of your questions and help guide you towards a collection that fits your needs and budget. Visit the contact page to schedule a personal consultation.
Q: Do you blog every wedding?
I really do try to, but often fall behind on blogging. If I don’t blog it’s only because I’m working hard on delivering full galleries as quickly as possible!
Q: Will we have photos taken before the wedding?
Yes, engagement and bridal sessions are available. It’s also a great opportunity for us to get to know each other. Chemistry is key!
Q: Do you have liability insurance?
Sure do. Let me know if your venue needs my info.
Q: Can you hold a date for me?
I'm so sorry, but I can't hold the date or pencil you in. To be fair to everyone I can't "hold" a date without a retainer and a signed contract. I accept bookings on a first come / first serve basis.
Q: How many photos do we receive with your collections?
I believe in quality over quantity, but never set limits. You can expect to receive a healthy, not overwhelming, number of options!
Q: Will we keep the digital negatives?
Yes, I deliver all of the photographer select, full resolution, post-produced, un-watermarked images along with the digital negatives on private web gallery for easy download.
Q: Can we print our own photos or make our own albums later?
Yes, the photos are yours to keep, so feel free to make your own prints or design your own albums.
Q. Do you offer albums with your collections?
Yes! In fact, I offer gorgeous signature series wedding albums available only to professional studios.
Q: Who's on your photography team?
I am the team! You can rest assured that when you commission me to document your wedding that everything will be done by me; from the initial email to the blog post and final delivery of your album - it's always me...
Q: Do you tour the venue before the wedding?
Yes, I’m happy to visit the event space with you prior to the wedding time permitting.
Q: How soon will we receive the completed photos and albums?
Expect to receive the final photos two to four weeks after your wedding. Albums can be ready as soon as four weeks from the time they are ordered.
Q: Contract is signed! What’s next?
After you sign the contract and submit a deposit to hold the date, we can get to the fun stuff! We’ll look at our calendars and schedule the engagement photo session!
Q: I still have a few more questions!
My Signature Series Wedding Albums have a clean and classic design to insure they will never become outdated. All albums are personally designed by me, have a gorgeous padded black leather cover and include thick lay flat pages. I can't wait for you to hold one and see what a quality album feels like. Your wedding album will truly be your families first heirloom.
Often, the experience of seeing your photos actually printed in a physical/tangible form can be forgotten about. It’s an important factor to consider when you’re thinking about what you truly want out of your wedding photos. Sometimes it’s just a totally different feeling to pull out a wedding album than it is to boot up your computer. To look at ink instead of pixels. To hold the memories of your day in your hands… without any need for an outlet.
Albums Start at $1200
Every album is created by me with custom designed layouts. You can be as involved or not as you'd like in the whole process so you have the perfect way to remember your incredible day.
Albums come in three sizes and all have a gorgeous padded black leather cover and include thick lay flat pages.
I am a Chicago area Photographer with over thirty years of varied and unique experience behind the camera; that includes a formal photography education, over twenty-five years working as a forensic photographer and ten years documenting weddings.
My journey with photography began over 30 years ago while serving as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division taking photographs of the other soldiers in the unit.
Following my military service I earned an Associate of Arts in Photography from the College of DuPage, a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Benedictine University and worked for over 26 years in law enforcement while holding an ancillary position as a Crime Scene Investigator / Forensic Photographer; including 6 years at the DuPage County Coroners Office and over 20 years with a local police agency and county major crimes task force in the western suburbs of Chicago (yes, I've shot some crazy stuff). Along the way I picked-up a few professional photography certifications and did a little bit of teaching.
I photographed my first wedding in 2006 and it has been my passion ever since. In addition to working with my own clients I enjoyed five seasons working as a Lead Wedding Photographer with one of the most popular wedding studios in Chicago. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with some of the nicest couples and shoot in many of Chicagoland's most popular venues. I have shot weddings that have as few as a dozen guests to well over 500. However, no matter the size of the wedding - it's always been the story that resonates with me! So, no matter the size of your wedding, how big or small or what budget is; please get in touch. I would genuinely love to hear from you.
I live in the far western suburbs of Chicago with my rather large family and our Siberian Husky, Juno.
