01.  WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

My home studio / office is conveniently located in Batavia, Illinois just off of I88 & Rt. 31. Coming from downtown Chicago the drive takes about 45 minutes. All in person consultations are done at my studio.

02.  HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE & APPROACH?

The short answer is simply that I take pictures of people at weddings. Think of me as a guest with a camera...

The longer answer is that for 90% of the wedding day my style is best described as documentary. My goal is to be the silent photographer capturing intimate moments and telling the story of your day exactly how it happened with a tangible reminder of the emotions, feelings and details but without the orchestration, awkward poses or dozens of group shots popular with traditional wedding photographers. (I promise to not make you stand in a line and jump, peek out from behind a tree or smile and say cheese). For that other 10%, I spend that time creating a handful of posed individual and family group portraits. The very best way to get a feel for my style is to check out the work here on this site and of course watch a recent featured full wedding. I am confident that after viewing my work and past client testimonials you will come away recognizing that I offer more then just wedding day photos. I offer an experience; and the photographs I create will serve to be a heartfelt reminder of your wedding day for years to come.

03.  DO YOU HAVE ANY LIMITS ON COVERAGE TIME ON THE WEDDING DAY?

No, I am available to cover the entirety of your day; from bridal prep to garter toss. You can rest assured that I won't be packing up my gear until all those once in a lifetime moments are captured.

04.  WHY ARE YOUR RATES NOT LISTED?

To be blunt - it's because what you pay for your wedding photography is no-ones business but yours. I work primarily off referrals and most all of the people who contact me have a ballpark idea of where their pricing will fall. Give me a call, send an email or use the contact form on this page to set up a time for us to meet and discuss your wedding. Together we will come up with a collection of products and services to fit your unique needs and budget.

05.  HOW DO WE BOOK & PAY?

After our consultation you will need to submit a signed contract along with the deposit to hold the date.

06.  WILL YOU HOLD A DATE WHILE WE ARE STILL CHECKING OUT OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS?

Sorry, but I can't "hold" dates. I have a no pressure sales approach and I promise to not hunt you down to get a contract signed. I firmly believe that if the couple feels we are a good fit they will get back to me. Plus, I hate pushy sales people in my own life too. I should mention that I typically book out 12 months in advance. So, if your interested in a date please get the contract and deposit in ASAP. I hate telling people that I'm no longer available for their wedding.

07.  HOW MANY PHOTOS DO WE GET?

I believe in quality over quantity, but never set limits. You can expect to receive a healthy, not overwhelming, number of options!

08.  ARE ALL OF OUR PHOTOS EDITED?

Yes. All of them. Full resolution with color and exposure adjusted to my liking.

09.  DO YOU HAVE ANY CLIENT REVIEWS?

Yes. Please see the “Testimonials” tab on this site. All are from real clients and were unsolicited.

10.  DO YOU PROVIDE A PRINT AND DISTRIBUTION RELEASE?

Absolutely. You can print your photos wherever you want and you can distribute them around the internet too (facebook, e-mail, twitter, etc). I also provide prints from my professional print lab if you like.

11.  WHAT DO WE GET IN OUR ONLINE GALLERY?

Fully processed, edited, and downloadable printable high resolution jpeg images.

12.  ARE THE DELIVERED IMAGES WATERMARKED?

Nope. I hate watermarks. You know who you commissioned to document your wedding and I trust my clients will gladly refer me. I don't see the need to muck up a beautiful photo with a logo.

13.  DO YOU TAKE WEDDING DAY FAMILY GROUP PORTRAITS?

Yes.  While I primarily showcase the couple's portraits and documentary photos, I do take family group photos as well.

14.  DO YOU ACCEPT SHOT LISTS?

If your referring to the cookie cutter “must have shot lists” that are popular on wedding blogs or a link to a Pinterest page - no I do not. However, in regards to the family photos, absolutely yes. In fact a short list of those needed family groupings will help that portion of the day move along nicely so that we can get your guests back to the party and leave us with a few minutes to create some beautiful couples portraits.

15.  CAN MY UNCLE TAKE PHOTOS DURING MY WEDDING?

Sure. I know you love your family and want them involved. I just ask that they be aware of my presence and not get in the way of the photos your paying for.

16.  DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Yes I do. Let me know if your venue needs a copy.

17.  WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

Check out my “Whats in Your Bag” page.

18.  ARE YOU A MEMBER OF ANY PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY ORGANIZATIONS?

Yes, I am an active member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) which is the worlds oldest and largest organization for professional photographers. I even worked for an affiliate of the PPA as a Certification Instructor and Image Submission Judge.

19.  I’M A PHOTOGRAPHER... CAN I SHOOT WITH YOU SOMETIME?

No, sorry; I work best alone. For those weddings when another photographer is needed, I have a rock solid second shooter to call in. However, with that being said, I run a Photography Meet-up Group and your more then welcome to join in.

20.  IS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY YOUR FULL-TIME JOB?

No. While I have been a photographer for over three decades it has always been an ancillary part of my professional and personal life. I don't see what I do as running a business. I am proud to say that I document weddings because I love doing it; not because I have to. That being said, because I am not a full-time “wedding photographer” I am only able to accept a handful of select weddings each year. If you are interested in working with me, I encourage you to contact me to check availability and schedule a consultation well in advance of your wedding date.

21.  DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH ANY OTHER WORK OUTSIDE OF WEDDINGS?

Yes, while my primary focus is documenting weddings I do shoot a handful of editorial, portrait and event work for past clients, select charities, friends and family. If you want to view some of that work; to include high school senior portrait sessions, sports portraits and corporate headshots, please contact me and I will be glad to get you some examples. Lastly, please check out my Personal Work page where I show some of the non-commissioned work I shoot just for me.

22. ONE MORE THING. DID YOU REALLY PHOTOGRAPH JENNY MCCARTHY & DONNIE WAHLBERG?

Yes, that was an assignment I never saw coming and was a really fun experience. It reinforces my belief that some of the best opportunities in life happen when your not looking. Cheers...
